Few words from the Organising Chair

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to (C3)², where we come together to explore the theme of Collaborative Care in Children.

The management of paediatric dental patients often presents unique challenges that extend beyond the scope of a single discipline. Through collaboration, shared expertise, and open dialogue, we can achieve better outcomes for our young patients while advancing our collective knowledge and clinical practice.

This year’s programme features insightful lectures on autotransplantation, presented by Orthodontist Dr Koo Chieh Shen and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr Tan Mei Hui. Their multidisciplinary perspectives will highlight how close collaboration between specialties can provide innovative treatment solutions for children with complex dental needs.

We are also excited to host the second edition of the Curious Cases Oral Presentation Competition, where young clinicians will share intriguing and educational paediatric dental cases. These presentations are intended to offer an excellent opportunity to learn from real-world experiences, encourage critical thinking, and celebrate clinical excellence within our profession. Details on how to enter the competition can be found below.

Curious Cases Oral Presentation Competition

Abstract Submission Guidelines

  1. To enter the Curious Cases Oral Presentation Competition, candidates must have a case showcasing challenging management (i.e., a curious case) within paediatric dentistry. Some examples of such include, but are not limited to:
    • Rare/challenging diagnosis
    • Complex medical history
    • Complex social history
    • Treatment requiring complicated sequencing
    • Collaborative, inter-disciplinary care
  2. Interested candidates will need to prepare a case report abstract to describe the curious case for submission. The abstract should not exceed 350 words in length. It should include the following sections with headings, describing the case(s) and treatment provided:
    • Title: Not more than 15 words in length.
    • Introduction/Background: Present relevant case background, including the patient’s basic demographics, medical history and clinical/radiographic findings.
    • Aims: State the goals/intended outcomes for treatment.
    • Treatment and Follow-up: Describe the treatment planned and provided, the final outcomes achieved and follow up care.
    • Discussion: Describe the rationale for the techniques used and/or possible reasons for the clinical outcomes achieved.
    • Conclusion: Present the main ‘take-home’ message from the case, indicating its significance and explaining the implications for clinical practice or future research.
  3. All abstracts must be submitted via email to Dr Doris Chua at dcruyi@gmail.com by 31 August 2026, 2359h.
  4. All abstracts and oral presentations are to be in the English language.
  5. Each candidate can only submit 1 abstract.
  6. Successfully shortlisted candidates will be notified by e-mail in 4-6 weeks after submission deadline.

Oral Presentation Guidelines

  1. Shortlisted candidates must register for the conference, and will present their cases to an audience and judges on 14 November 2026. Those who fail to present physically at the designated time will be disqualified.
  2. Each presentation shall comprise of 10 minutes case presentation and a 10 minute Q&A.
  3. Finalised presentation slides must be submitted to Dr Doris Chua by 8 November 2026, 2359h. No edits will be allowed thereafter, including on the day of the competition.
